With over 20 years photography experience, Jim Harris has worked in many areas of photography, including editorial photography and has taught photography at universities both here and abroad as well as specialty hands-on courses in Philadelphia. Jim has also worked as a news photographer and eventually made a career of Portraiture, Event and Wedding Photography. Coal People Editorial Photography Galley

The Coal People Gallery is a long time editorial photography project that explores the Northern Appalachian Coal Mining Photography in Western Pennsylvania. This documentary photography exhibit was shown throughout universities and small industrial towns in Pennsylvania. Jim's editorial and documentary assignments through the years have resulted in several photo essays and environmental portraits. A culmination of this work resulted in Jim's most recent exhibition titled Picture Stories: The Photography of Jim Harris. Picture Stories combines the documentary and editorial photography of his travel photography along with his best lifestyle and music photography.

A local of Pennsylvania, Jim has made his home in the city of Philadelphia. Like everyone else, your place often defines a significant part of who you are. A lot of what Jim has photographed in recent years is probably what he would call, Philadelphia Lifestyle Photography. It's simply what is going on in the city around us. The majority of his special events and weddings are located throughout the city of Philadelphia as well as the surrounding areas such as Delaware County. Most of Jim's location editorial photography and portrait sessions are within the city's parks and urban landscape.
