Boss on the Ridge…

Just when you thought you knew a lot about your own neighborhood….and the Boss for that matter, I find out that Springsteen’s first headlining gig in Philadelphia took place a couple blocks from our house and place of business. The Boss played the now demolished Roxy Theater on Ridge Ave in Roxborough in June of 1973. The photo above was taken by Art Reilly, his lighting guy… and some of his work can be seen here.  The Roxy Theater came down in 1981 and there is now a Dunkin’ Donuts in it’s place on Ridge & Leverington Ave… a Dunkin’ Donuts that I have regularly frequented over the last several years. Yeah, go figure…
